Diesen und weiteren Fragen geht der indische Künstler Swagata Bhattacharyya in seiner Ausstellung nach, die Arbeiten und Recherchen seiner sechsmonatigen Residenz im Gästeatelier Krone zusammenfasst.

How does digital disinformation shape public opinion? How does the demonstration of political power affect urban and landscape planning, architecture and technology? Indian artist Swagata Bhattacharyya explores these and other questions in his exhibition, which brings together works and research from his six-month residency at Gästeatelier Krone.

About the artist

Swagata Bhattacharyya lives and works as an artist in Kolkata, India. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (2018), and a Master of Visual Arts in Painting from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara (2020). He received the Inlaks Fine Arts Award in 2020 and participated in a hybrid residency under Khoj International Artists’ Association in 2021 leading to a group show. His practice gives visibility to speculative narratives of existing power structures and the multifaceted ways it shapes our world. He works with drawing, photographs, and CGI to create simulated worlds. He inquires about how modes of power shape policies, and influence future environs via architecture and urban design, technology, and manufactured landscapes.
